WHO WE ARE

The Organization for promoting African girls in Engineering, Science and Technology Education OPAGESTE is a non Governmental and non profit organization which was birthed in 2002, registered with the ministry of Women Affairs and social Welfare in 2005. OPAGESTE is independent in the intentional community, it was registered to her mother Organization The Organisation of Women Engineers and Scientists in August 25th, 2005


OUR AIMS & OBJECTIVES

OUR AIM
The purpose of the organization is to contribute to the buildinmg of a better future for African Girls and Women through application of multidimentional strategic approches, to enhance their full and effective participation in science, technology engineering and mathematice (STEM) Education.

OUR OBJECTIVES:

1. Mentor and support the African Girl child in STEM Education and lead young women into science and technology based carreers
2. Motivates, attracts and retain girls and young women in STEM Education
3. Encourage girl's participation in information communication Technology
4. Present STEM careers as parents ans train teachers on girls-friendly teaching methods
5. Facilitates gender-incldive instructionsl delivery in STEM Education
6. Provide a forum for dissemination and discussion of research findings and experirnces of professionals in gender related issues in STEM
7. Retain her organisationl membership status in her mother organization, INWES
8. Develop and maintain database for women developments in S&T for gender studies centers and to
9. Positively influence gender mainstreaming in S&T development


OUR BACKGROUND

The organization for promoting African girls in engineering, science and technology education (OPAGESTE), is a non Governmental and non-profit organization which was birthed in 2002, registered with the ministry of women Affairs and social walfare in 2005. OPAGESTE is not independent in the intentional community, it was registered to her mother organisation, The organisation of women engineers and scientists in August, 25th 2005, following a meeting of Dr. Uduakobong Aniebiat Okon with the president of INWES, Professor Monique Frize, a canadian, and a formal presentation of a proposal for OPAGESTE in Africa, in INWES'S board meeting in Seoul, South Korea. INWES is an International Non-governmental amd non-profit organization, with her administrative framework spread across all continent of the world in partnaship status with world organisations including; UNESCO, UNICEF, CIDA, USID, etc INWES acts as an umbrella organization to OPAGESTE which outlines OPAGESTE constitutional framework and operations as an affiliate organization, to serve in INWES educational programme sub-comitee in Africa
